We are assisting one of our client companies in identifying an experienced, relationship-driven professional with a strong background in the residential home building industry. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who understands the construction process, enjoys building long-term client relationships, and thrives in a consultative sales environment.
The ideal candidate will have a proven history of job stability, preferably with employers where they have remained for three or more years, and will possess a strong understanding of residential construction, estimating, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, manage, and grow long-term relationships with residential home builders and contractor partners.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned builder accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service and responsiveness.
- Consult with builders on custom products, upgrades, and project solutions while maintaining a relationship-focused approach rather than a high-pressure sales style.
- Prepare and review estimates and pricing for residential construction projects.
- Coordinate closely with estimating, operations, and production teams to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Manage change orders and communicate project updates effectively to all stakeholders.
- Take ownership of project challenges, including scheduling issues, budget concerns, and customer expectations, and proactively work toward successful resolutions.
- Visit construction job sites as needed to maintain strong customer relationships and ensure project success.
- Understand pricing, profitability, and margin expectations while balancing customer satisfaction with company objectives.
- Maintain accurate project information, quotations, and customer records using strong Excel skills.
- Experience working within the residential home building industry.
- Knowledge of the residential construction process from planning through project completion.
- Previous experience working with builders and contractors such as:
- Cabinet manufacturers
- Door and millwork companies
- Interior finish contractors
- Other residential building product suppliers
- Experience managing long-term builder relationships and key customer accounts.
- Strong estimating experience.
- Experience managing custom orders and change orders.
- Comfortable visiting active construction sites.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Stable employment history with demonstrated job tenure.
- Consultative sales style focused on building trust and long-term partnerships.
- Highly responsive and accountable.
- Able to anticipate challenges and proactively solve problems.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of project profitability and margins.
- Team-oriented with the ability to coordinate effectively across operations, estimating, and production.
- Salary: $65,000–$85,000
