Senior Mechanical Construction Cost Manager / Estimator

Turner & Townsend are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Cost Manager / Estimator to act as the key day-to-day client interface, ensuring client objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.

In this significant position, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction while embedding and promoting the purpose, values, and vision of Turner & Townsend.

Responsibilities include estimating and negotiating change orders throughout the construction lifecycle, providing estimate and cost planning, reviewing and participating with the design services team and general contractor in the development of cost estimates, reconciling changes and assisting the general contractor to ensure that their data is accurate, communicating or meeting with the general contractor and owner or project manager to gather status information to prepare cost estimate updates, preparing written comments on contractor submissions, including executive summaries, coordinating all sources of cost information, informing and driving engineering priorities based on cost impact, working proactively with minimal supervision to resolve commercial and scheduling issues, managing cost checks and carrying out valuations on large-scale construction projects, completing timely and accurate cost checking, auditing, and valuation processes, participating effectively in post-contract cost variance and change control processes, managing cost impact assessments, contingency management, risk tracking, and commitment logs, preparing funding presentations and coordinating value engineering sessions with stakeholders, developing cost plans and estimates through all design phases, delivering updated cost plans at key design milestones, providing commercial input into design optioneering and value engineering exercises, reviewing contractor and subcontractor pricing and leading negotiations on behalf of the client to achieve fair and competitive contract pricing, performing quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle, leading mechanical cost management activities associated with HVAC systems, cleanroom environments, process piping, utility infrastructure, and process cooling water systems, evaluating the cost impact of design development, scope growth, and structural or civil design changes on mechanical systems and overall project budgets, utilizing estimating and cost management tools including Excel, Bluebeam, Plan Swift, and similar digital quantity takeoff platforms to support cost planning, forecasting, and reporting, monitoring labor market conditions, workforce availability, and material supply chain factors to identify potential cost and schedule risks, ensuring post-contract cost variances and change control processes are managed effectively, ensuring cost auditing and valuation work is managed effectively and that robust cost validation procedures are maintained, producing monthly cost reports and executive summaries for client presentation, ensuring final accounts are negotiated and agreed upon in a timely manner, compiling historical cost data and benchmarking records to support future projects and estimating activities, identifying, coaching, and mentoring talent to help individuals realize their potential and celebrate the success of others, displaying excellence in leadership and service delivery in line with the conditions of appointment, utilizing internal software and systems to manage project financial performance, fee forecasting, resource planning, and reporting, implementing and maintaining company delivery methodologies, business management systems, and best practices, being a role model who drives a one-business culture that delivers successful outcomes for clients, people, stakeholders, and society, and SOX control responsibilities may form part of this role and must be adhered to where applicable.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Cost Management, Engineering, or a related construction discipline.
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, estimating, or project controls within the construction industry.
• Experience managing mechanical scopes on medium to large-scale construction projects.
• Experience with HVAC, piping, mechanical utilities, process systems, clean rooms, advanced manufacturing, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, industrial, or data center projects is highly desirable.
• RICS accredited or actively working toward accreditation preferred.
• Experience leading cost management services on projects of medium to high complexity.
