Project Manager – Pipeline Position Summary

The Project Manager – Pipeline is responsible for planning, executing, and successfully delivering pipeline construction and replacement projects from contract award through final closeout. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations, contract requirements, and quality standards. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of accountability for project performance, stakeholder communication, and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of pipeline construction projects, including transmission, midstream, and distribution pipeline installations and replacements.
  • Lead project planning activities, including scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, procurement coordination, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, work plans, and resource forecasts while monitoring performance and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, project stakeholders, field operations, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate field crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and resources to ensure efficient execution of project objectives.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, industry standards, environmental permits, and project specifications.
  • Review and approve production reports, progress documentation, quantities installed, and project records.
  • Manage contract administration activities, including RFIs, change orders, claims documentation, and project correspondence.
  • Collaborate with estimating, procurement, permitting, and right-of-way teams to support project execution.
  • Lead project meetings, including pre‑construction conferences, progress meetings, safety meetings, and closeout reviews.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including job cost tracking, forecasting, earned value analysis, and variance reporting.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on schedule, budget, quality, and safety.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture through regular site visits, safety reviews, investigations, and corrective action planning.
  • Provide regular project status updates to clients and senior leadership.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of gas utility and pipeline construction, including mains, services, transmission pipelines, and underground infrastructure.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control principles.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent written communication skills for preparation of reports, schedules, change orders, project correspondence, and documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact effectively with clients, field personnel, subcontractors, and regulatory representatives.
  • Demonstrated negotiation and conflict‑resolution skills related to project scope, schedule, and budget matters.
  • Ability to identify project risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency with project management and scheduling software, including Microsoft Project or similar tools, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work from project sites as required.
Leadership and Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervises project personnel and provides direction to field supervisors, foremen, and project support staff.
  • Coordinates and oversees subcontractors, vendors, and craft labor within the project environment.
