The Project Engineer at Wespac Construction Inc. plays a vital role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects. As part of the Project Management team, the Project Engineer collaborates closely with the Project Manager to ensure the smooth implementation and completion of projects. This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and offers an excellent opportunity for career growth and development within the construction industry.
Responsibilities1. Project Support:
- Assist the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in all phases of the project, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Provide technical support and input on project-related matters.
- Assist with the preparation and review of project plans, schedules, budgets, and contracts.
- Participate in project meetings and document discussions and action items.
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams, to ensure project requirements are met.
- Manage project closeout including punch list, closeout documentation, and final payments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, change orders, and RFIs (Request for Information).
- Maintain and update project schedule with Project Manager and Superintendent, incorporating logic revisions, delays, and change orders.
- Track and log project data, such as daily and weekly reports, progress photos, and project expenses.
- Assist with preparing project status reports, including cost analysis, schedule updates, and risk assessments.
- Document Subcontractor and owner weekly meeting minutes.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Identify and report any quality issues or non-compliance to the Project Manager and Superintendent.
- Assist with the resolution of quality-related concerns and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Assist with the evaluation and selection of subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Review subcontractor submittals, shop drawings, and other project-related documentation.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and progress to ensure adherence to project requirements.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to resolve issues and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Assist in monitoring project costs and budget allocations.
- Track and report on project expenses, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose alternatives, where applicable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field required.
- Prior experience in the construction industry through internships, co-op programs, or entry-level positions is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of construction principles, methods, and practices.
- Knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Proficient in project management software and tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
