Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor seeking an experienced Plumbing Trade Superintendent to oversee its plumbing department, including project field crews and plumbing prefabrication operations. The position is responsible for manpower, project costs, schedules, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Position Summary

The Plumbing Trade Superintendent will manage day-to-day operations of plumbing crews and prefabrication teams across assigned commercial construction projects. This individual will provide leadership and direction to field teams, manage labor and material costs, maintain project schedules, identify potential change orders, and ensure quality installations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in heavy commercial plumbing construction and strong leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, staff, and direct the Plumbing Department.
  • Manage field crews and plumbing prefabrication teams.
  • Identify and manage project scope, schedules, manpower, and costs.
  • Maintain appropriate manpower levels for current and upcoming workloads.
  • Manage manpower placement across projects and prefabrication operations.
  • Review job cost reports and monitor labor and material costs at least biweekly.
  • Identify and resolve field and fabrication issues related to safety, production, and efficiency.
  • Maintain manpower and compensation records.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Hire and release employees as needed based on workload requirements.
  • Provide employee training and development where needed.
  • Lead by example and promote a respectful, professional work environment.
  • Ensure quality installation on assigned projects.
  • Review project submittals for accuracy and compliance.
  • Identify potential change orders and communicate them appropriately.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets.
  • Coordinate with CAD/BIM teams on assigned projects.
  • Identify opportunities for plumbing prefabrication to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, customers, vendors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects meet budget and schedule requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Current Arizona Journeyman Plumber License - Required.
  • 7+ years of verifiable Commercial Plumbing Superintendent experience.
  • Strong experience in heavy commercial construction, such as:
    • Hotels
    • Office buildings
    • Hospitals
    • Casinos
    • Large commercial facilities
  • Minimum 5-year clean driving record.
  • Experience working with CAD/BIM departments.
  • Ability to identify and implement plumbing prefabrication opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of plumbing construction, field operations, and project execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team-management abilities.
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Ability to handle conflict professionally and diplomatically.
  • Ability to pass required pre-employment testing.
