CAT PMProfile Miller Operator

The CAT PM822 Profile Miller Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a Caterpillar PM822 Cold Planer/Profile Milling Machine to remove asphalt and concrete surfaces in preparation for paving, resurfacing, or rehabilitation projects. The operator must maintain production goals, ensure quality milling results, perform routine equipment inspections, and comply with all company and safety regulations.

• Operate a CAT PM822 Profile Miller/Cold Planer safely and efficiently on construction projects.
• Perform profile milling, surface corrections, and asphalt or concrete removal according to project specifications.
• Monitor milling depth, slope, grade, and cross-slope requirements to achieve desired surface quality.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
• Identify and report mechanical issues, equipment damage, and maintenance needs.
• Perform basic preventative maintenance, including lubrication, fluid checks, and cutter tooth inspections/replacements.
• Coordinate with truck drivers, ground personnel, survey crews, and paving crews to ensure efficient workflow.
• Read and interpret project plans, grade stakes, and milling specifications.
• Maintain production records, daily inspection reports, and equipment logs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.
• Keep equipment and work areas clean and organized.
• Assist with additional construction-related duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience operating cold planers, profile mills, or similar heavy equipment.
• Experience operating CAT PM822 or comparable milling equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of asphalt paving and roadway construction practices.
• Ability to read construction plans and understand grade and slope requirements.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
• Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or night shifts as required by project schedules.

• Heavy highway, paving, and site construction environments.

• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
• MSHA Certification (if applicable)
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
