Project Engineer – Commercial & Multifamily Construction
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Salary: $60,000–$85,000 DOE
Position Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join a growing construction team in Phoenix. This is a great opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day coordination of projects and wants to continue developing toward a Project Management career.
The Project Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, architects, designers, subcontractors, and owners to help keep projects organized, on schedule, and moving forward. Projects may include commercial tenant improvements, multifamily and mixed‑use developments, corporate facilities, and institutional construction.
What You'll Do- Support the Project Manager throughout all phases of construction
- Coordinate with architects, designers, owners, subcontractors, and field teams
- Prepare, review, distribute, and track RFIs and submittals
- Assist with bid packages, procurement, bid analysis, and buyouts
- Support change order management and maintain accurate contract documentation
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Assist with constructability reviews and permit processing
- Track project schedules, subcontractor progress, and material deliveries
- Monitor quality control activities and communicate issues to the PM or Superintendent
- Participate in project meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Assist with project reporting, punch lists, and closeout documentation
- Help ensure work is completed according to plans, specifications, applicable codes, and safety requirements
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- 5+ years of construction/project experience preferred
- Experience with commercial construction, tenant improvements, multifamily, mixed‑use, corporate, or institutional projects
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, and methods
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, schedules, and project documentation
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and/or project management software
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and work effectively with both field and office teams
- PE license is a plus, but not required
