Position Summary

Ballet Arizona seeks a dynamic Head of Studio Company & Upper School to lead artistic training, curriculum development, faculty collaboration, and performance production for the Upper Division and Studio Company. Reporting to the School Director and working closely with the Artistic Director, this hybrid leadership/instruction role requires strong administrative skills, classroom excellence, rehearsal and staging experience, and public-facing abilities (auditions, parent meetings, community events).

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a minimum of 24 contact hours per week in full‑time training programs (all semesters and summer intensive).
  • Co‑develop, implement, and maintain syllabus and curriculum standards with the School and Artistic Directors.
  • Hire, mentor and coordinate faculty; provide artistic and pedagogical leadership across divisions.
  • Advise on transitions between Lower and Upper Divisions and collaborate with division coordinators.
  • Plan, set / rehearse, choreograph, stage and artistically direct student repertoire, Studio Company Showcase, and School performances (including community engagement).
  • Assist with audition planning, attend auditions, review video submissions, and recruit / select students for School and Studio Company.
  • Supervise student evaluations each semester and provide career guidance for students.
  • Support special events, administrative meetings, parent / student consultations and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of ballet training and performing experience in classical and contemporary repertoire.
  • Demonstrated excellence in classical ballet technique, repertoire coaching, and classroom management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to motivate students and collaborate with staff.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard administrative tasks.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience in a ballet school and / or supervisory experience managing instructors.
  • Experience as a professional company dancer.

Supervisory Scope

No direct reports required by job description; provides leadership and direction to faculty.

Primarily studio‑based; may require office and external event support.

Variable schedule based on term class and rehearsal schedules; some nights, weekends and on‑call work required.

Ability to demonstrate technique and choreography for extended periods; must be able to stand, walk, demonstrate dance steps, perform light computer tasks and lift up to 20 lbs.

Travel

Occasional local travel within Maricopa County for events. Regular commuting required.
