Position: GCU Athletics Student Photographer (FWS/NFWS)

GCU Athletics Student Photographer (FWS/NFWS)

Grand Canyon University Athletics is seeking a student photographer to support the mission of Grand Canyon University through GCU’s Athletics Department.

The Student Photographer will work with the GCU Athletics Photographer and will take direction and make edits on all projects from the Associate Athletic Director of Media Production or Sr. Athletics Photographer. The main function of the position is to take photos capturing GCU Athletic events along with other events or activities pertaining to or associated with student-athletes or supporting staff.

This position is for those looking for experience in the sports photography field and requires working evenings and weekends. Hours vary based on the Athletic Events Schedule and are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities
  • Take photos of student-athletes and sporting events at Grand Canyon University.
  • Cover areas of coverage including:
  • Athletic Games/Practices
  • Studio Shoots (Media Days/Recruiting Shoots)
  • Press Conferences
  • Special Events
  • Community Outreach
  • Other Misc. Athletic needs
  • Work on expedited timeline.
  • Upload, organize, and tag photos.
Equipment Used & Responsibility
  • Working knowledge of a DSLR Camera.
  • Working knowledge of Canon/Sony Lenses.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom/Photoshop) – Editing.
  • Capture One (Studio Shoots).
  • Photoshelter (Photo Organization – Uploading/Tagging Photos).
Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Understanding of Sports.
  • Ability to anticipate sports action.
  • Takes initiative – take a project from beginning to end.
  • Willingness to learn, and to have fun doing something you love.
Experience/Education
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University. May be subject to termination if falling below minimum requirements.
Compensation & Other Information
  • Pay Rate:
    Minimum Wage.
  • Anticipated End Date:
    June 30, 2027.
