/ is seekingadigital-first bilingual reporter to join the Spanish- la nguage reporting and producing team at La Voz.
La Voz isthe
Spanish- la nguagesister publication and bilingual desk of The Arizona Republic/, bringing local news coverage of Phoenix and Arizona to La tinos and Spanish speakers.
- This reporter will closely monitor and build connections in the Spanish-speaking community of metro Phoenix to craft service journalism and answer reader questions.
- This reporter will produce a combination of breaking news, daily enterprise, feature and multi-sourced stories in Spanish and English in a fast-paced, competitive, 24/7 news cycle.
Report community-centered stories ranging from quick-turn breakingnewsto deeper features.
Use search insights to connect with readers on trending topics.
Demonstrate strong news judgment informed by real-worldexperiencein
Spanish news media.
Bring fresh ideas about how to best deliver audience-centered coverage of
Spanish speaking communities.
Provide cogent analysis of trends and issues.
Engage with readers through various platforms, including social, video and newsletters.
Knowledge and skills:Spanish fluency required.
Strong command of AP grammar and style.
Strong copy-editing skills and the ability to produce breaking news and long-form content that is clean,accurate and publication ready.
Use metrics to inform story choices and shape beat strategies.
Experiment withnew ways of informing and engaging audiencesacrossplatforms and alternate story forms.
Comfort and familiarity using social media such as X, Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tokand other emerging platforms to enhance reporting and share journalism.
Established understanding of media ethics and sourcing.
Required work experience, training and education:- Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proven newsroom experience in Spanish media.
Must haverequiredskills including social media, storytelling, analytical ability, interpersonalskillsandtimemanagement.
This role requires a valid driver’s license, reliabletransportationand the minimum liability insurance required by state la w.
