Purpose:
Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs. GCU maintains a partnership with the American Red Cross located at 4747 N.
22nd Street, Suite 100, Phoenix, AZ, 85016. Their mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of the American Red Cross; however, they may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May – August). CSLP:
This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, "Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need." These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

- Seeking a creative, motivated intern who is eager to learn and ready to develop polished content from concept to completion, including scripting, filming, and editing.
- Film and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, Facebook, Linked In, and You Tube Shorts.
- Assist in producing longer-form video content for You Tube and other digital platforms.
- Brainstorm creative, trend-driven content ideas that educate, inspire, and engage audiences.
- Attend Red Cross events, blood drives, volunteer activities, and community outreach events to capture photo and video content.
- Conduct on‑camera interviews with volunteers, donors, staff, and community members.
- Assist with photography and content collection for social media and marketing campaigns.
- Participate in content planning meetings and contribute fresh ideas for digital storytelling.
- Support social media campaigns by identifying current trends and adapting them to align with the Red Cross brand and mission.
- Organize and manage digital photo and video assets.
- Represent the American Red Cross with professionalism, compassion, and respect while interacting with volunteers, donors, clients, and community partners.

- Cameras (Canon EOS R6 Mark II and Sony FX30 and iPhone cameras)
- DJI Mics

- Editing software of choice (e.g., Cap Cut and Edits)
