Project Architect – Digital Building Components (DBC)
Digital Building Components (DBC), part of the DPR Family of Companies, is seeking a skilled and passionate Project Architect to join our growing team. As a Project Architect, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing the exterior envelope systems for prefabricated walls. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to create designs that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing while ensuring compliance with building codes, energy efficiency standards, and environmental requirements.
Responsibilities- Lead the design process from conceptual phase through construction documentation.
- Manage project budgets and schedules.
- Develop comprehensive building envelope designs for prefabricated wall systems, ensuring integration of insulation, cladding, weatherproofing, and structural components.
- Work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet project specifications, local building codes, and sustainability standards.
- Create detailed construction drawings, technical specifications, and assembly instructions using ACC, Sketch Up, AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM software.
- Review design outputs to ensure quality standards, accuracy, and consistency, identifying potential design flaws or challenges and resolving them proactively.
- Serve as a liaison with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are producible, meet cost-effective goals, and can be assembled efficiently in the prefabrication process.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architectural staff.
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent problem‑solving and creative thinking skills within the constraints of prefabricated design.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines.
- Experience with client and contractor communication and negotiations.
- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch Up, etc.); bonus for knowledge of Rhino and Dynamo.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools and processes such as ACC and Procore.
- Professional registration as a Licensed Architect.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Building Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in building envelope design, preferably in prefabricated or modular construction.
- Extensive experience working in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment.
- Proven track record of managing large‑scale architectural projects.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times if needed.
