Your Role
Gensler Phoenix is currently seeking an experienced Technical Designer (Job Captain) with a successful track record and well-rounded, broad architectural background with project experience in multiple typologies, including, but not limited to workplace, hospitality and multifamily. In this position, you will collaborate with a team of designers and architects to produce technical documentation and communicate project progress to team members, ensuring our projects exceed client expectations.
What You Will Do
- Produce accurate technical and contract documentation for construction projects
- Provide project team coordination for incorporating design intent into construction documentation, assign tasks, and lead technical drawings
- Participate in construction administration, evaluate bids, conduct site visits, address technical issues and maintain quality control during construction
- Coordinate and direct consultants, specification writers to meet overall project objectives
- Collaborate with Contractors, Fabricators and Regulatory Agencies /3rd party teams
- Utilize hand sketches and 3D software, and Revit to communicate design concepts
- 5 - 10 years of related professional experience
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
- Experience in leading workplace, hospitality and multifamily projects preferred
- Experience with base building and/or build to suits required, with interiors experience preferred
- Knowledge of building codes, standards, zoning, jurisdictional processes, building materials, building structures, specifications, construction techniques and building envelopes a plus
- Knowledge of sustainable design strategies
- Experience in construction document preparation and Construction Administration
- Strong leadership, organizational, verbal and written communication, and relationship management skills
- Proficiency in Revit required; and experience in Auto Cad, Adobe CS, Rhinoceros, Sketch Up, and other 3D modeling software a plus
- On the path to licensure preferred
