Position Summary

This role assists home buyers with interior design selections and ensures choices align with product standards, budgets, and construction requirements. The candidate collaborates with cross‑functional partners to resolve selection‑related questions and support the smooth design experience.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Guide home buyers through the design selection process, providing information on finishes, materials, and available options
  • Prepare and document design selections to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational requirements
  • Maintain design samples, finish libraries, and presentation materials to support buyer appointments and model selections
  • Assist in developing cohesive design palettes that reflect community standards and market trends
  • Review design selections for completeness, accuracy, and feasibility
  • Coordinate with construction, purchasing, and sales teams to answer design‑related questions and clarify selection details
  • Resolve design or documentation issues using prior experience and structured analysis
  • Support model home design preparation, including materials research and coordination with merchandising
  • Provide guidance or assistance to entry‑level design or support team members
Education & Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in interior design or related disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional education
  • Experience supporting interior design development, documentation, or coordination activities
  • Experience working within established processes and standards under moderate supervision
Preferred Experience
  • Additional experience in residential or customer‑facing interior design environments
  • Broad knowledge of interior design workflows, systems, and tools
  • Experience collaborating cross‑functionally within design or operational teams
Skills & Competencies
  • Broad knowledge of interior design principles, materials, finishes, and residential product standards
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to support buyer interactions
  • Ability to review, interpret, and document design selections accurately
  • Strong problem‑solving skills using prior experience and analytical evaluation
  • Proficiency with design documentation tools and standard office software
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Capacity to manage multiple appointments, tasks, and deadlines
  • Ability to maintain organized design materials and showroom environments
  • Collaboration skills to resolve design or selection issues with cross‑functional teams
Working Conditions

The work is primarily performed in a design studio or office environment with occasional visits to model homes or construction sites. Limited travel may be required to support design reviews, coordination meetings, or community needs.

Physical Requirements
  • Remain in a stationary position during buyer appointments or administrative tasks
  • Move within showroom and office environments, accessing displays and samples
  • Review design materials, finishes, and documentation
  • Lift or move design samples or materials up to moderate weights
  • Operate computers, design tools, and standard office equipment
