Truss Designer

Are you an experienced truss designer professional looking for a stable, rewarding career change? A premier Arizona structural component manufacturer is hiring a Truss Designer to translate architectural blueprints into precise, structurally sound roof and floor component layouts. Operating within the MiTek software ecosystem, you will act as the technical bridge between local builders, regional engineers, and our production floor to deliver accurate, code-compliant truss packages for the Southwest market.

• Draft comprehensive roof and floor truss systems using Mi Tek design software based on architectural and structural blueprints.
• Perform precise material takeoffs and generate optimized cutting and material lists for the production floor.
• Integrate regional building codes, wind load demands, and material limitations into all structural layouts.
• Review plan inconsistencies and collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and framing contractors to resolve layout errors prior to production.
• Interact directly with clients via phone, email, or in person to verify project parameters, manage revisions, and present final designs for approval.
• Provide real-time technical troubleshooting to our manufacturing team and yard foreman during fabrication and staging.

• Build accurate project bids and quotes, balancing competitive pricing models with material efficiency.
• Conduct on-site inspections and field measurements when required to confirm physical dimensions before finalizing production orders.
• Manage digital documentation including sealed engineering approvals, client order sign-offs, and ERP invoicing data.

• Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED paired with 2+ years of architectural drafting, framing layout, or structural component design experience.
• Blueprint Literacy: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and scale complex construction documents, section details, and structural plans.

  Strong computer literacy with proven adaptability to master in-house manufacturing software and digital ordering systems.
• Software Mastery:
  Must possess absolute mastery of the MiTek suite or advanced, expert-level proficiency in specialized wood truss CAD software. Candidates without this specific software experience will not be considered.
• Local Knowledge: Practical knowledge of Arizona residential building practices, framing techniques, and local load code variants.
