About AZCCPP

Arizona Center for Chronic Pelvic Pain (AZCCPP) is one of the world’s most renowned pelvic pain practices, located in Scottsdale, Arizona, adjacent to Honor Health Shea Hospital. Our center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pudendal neuralgia, pudendal nerve entrapment, pelvic floor pain, severe endometriosis, and the full spectrum of conditions leading to chronic pelvic pain in both women and men.

We attract patients from across the United States and around the globe—including Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa—who seek our expertise when other treatments have failed. Led by Dr. Michael Hibner, current President of the AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists), our multidisciplinary team combines advanced surgical techniques with comprehensive non-surgical care to deliver life-changing outcomes.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Physician Assistant with a strong surgical focus to join our growing team. The primary role of this position is first‑assisting in the operating room for complex pelvic pain surgeries. This is an exceptional opportunity to work alongside a world‑renowned pelvic pain surgeon, develop advanced surgical skills, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients with the most challenging chronic pain conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • First‑assist in the operating room for advanced surgical procedures
  • Assist with pudendal nerve decompression, robotic Da Vinci endometriosis surgery, mesh removal, and other complex pelvic surgeries
  • Operate as bedside assistant during Da Vinci robotic surgical cases
  • Assist with office‑based procedures including nerve blocks and botulinum toxin injections
  • Round on and manage post‑operative inpatients
  • Evaluate and manage follow‑up patients in the clinical setting as needed
  • Assist with medication refills, patient inquiries, and care coordination
  • Coordinate care with our pelvic floor physical therapist, Kayla Koren, DPT
  • Participate in an on‑call schedule that rotates among all providers – call consists of answering occasional patient questions and assisting with very infrequent surgical emergencies
Why Join AZCCPP?
  • Work at one of the world’s leading pelvic pain centers, treating some of the most complex cases that no one else will take on
  • Lower patient volume with longer appointment times, allowing for thorough, individualized patient care
  • Train directly with Dr. Michael Hibner, a globally recognized surgeon, current President of the AAGL (American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists), and one of the world’s most renowned pudendal nerve experts
  • Participate in innovative procedures using the latest surgical technology
  • Develop subspecialty expertise in pelvic pain and nerve surgery – a rare and highly sought‑after skillset that few PAs in the country possess
  • Be part of a small, close‑knit team with direct mentorship, minimal bureaucracy, and no corporate overhead
  • Be part of a compassionate team that transforms the lives of patients who have often exhausted all other options
  • Enjoy living and working in beautiful Scottsdale, Arizona – over 300 days of sunshine, world‑class dining, endless outdoor recreation, and one of the lowest state income tax rates in the country
  • Excellent work‑life balance – work‑from‑home Fridays, weekends generally off with only rare hospital rounding and occasional urgent calls from patients, and a light shared on‑call rotation
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program with current NCCPA certification
  • Active Arizona PA license (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • Surgical first‑assist experience strongly preferred
  • Background in urology, urogynecology, or colorectal surgery preferred
  • Experience with or strong familiarity with the Da Vinci robotic surgical system
  • Comfort and confidence in the operating room environment
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical‑thinking skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a compassionate, patient‑centered approach
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn – extensive pelvic pain experience is not required; we provide comprehensive training
