HARTZ Search invites you to explore an exciting opportunity with our client, Arizona Center for Cancer Care (AZCCC) for the Senior Director, Medical Oncology Outpatient Clinical Services. This position offers a rare opportunity to lead one of the most sophisticated outpatient oncology systems in the Southwest, serving the Greater Phoenix area through a professional services agreement and a collaborative management services agreement with Honor Health, a nationally recognized, non-profit health system committed to quality and innovation.
The Senior Director, Medical Oncology will serve as the chief administrative leader for all outpatient medical oncology operations across AZCCC and Honor Health Cancer Care’s integrated network. Reporting to the Medical Director of Medical Oncology and the Executive Medical Oncology Committee, the Senior Director, Medical Oncology will be responsible for the alignment, execution, and continuous improvement of all medical oncology outpatient services across the region.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and executive presence, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization. They will be highly organized, proactive, and possess exceptional follow-up and follow-through capabilities to ensure accountability and results. Visibility and approachability are key, along with a commitment to fostering collaboration and driving continuous improvement. In collaboration with oncology service line leadership, this role will oversee the operations of the oncology research and clinical trials program.
The Director will partner with physician investigators, research leadership, and clinical teams to ensure seamless integration of research activities with patient care. Responsibilities include supervising the research team, monitoring program performance, ensuring adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards, and supporting the advancement of cutting-edge oncology trials.
AZCCC currently provides professional and administrative services for 48 medical oncology providers, encompassing 12 infusion centers and 4 satellite locations throughout Maricopa County. In addition, the gynecologic oncology service line includes 7 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers, delivering care across 10 locations throughout the region. These outpatient services are delivered across a combination of private practice sites and Honor Health’s hospital outpatient department (HOPD) clinics, making this a uniquely dynamic and multidimensional leadership role.

- Serve as the chief administrative leader for all outpatient medical oncology operations across AZCCC and Honor Health’s network.
- Align, execute, and continuously improve medical oncology outpatient services across the region.
- Oversee the operations of the oncology research and clinical trials program in collaboration with service line leadership.
- Partner with physician investigators, research leadership, and clinical teams to ensure seamless integration of research activities with patient care.
- Supervise the research team, monitor program performance, and ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance standards.
- Support advancement of cutting-edge oncology trials.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in outpatient medical oncology operations.
- Deep understanding of oncology infusion services, physician practice management, and hospital outpatient department (HOPD) operations.
- Demonstrated success in matrixed leadership roles across physician enterprises, health systems, and complex care delivery environments.
- Direct oversight or leadership experience in oncology-focused research and clinical trial programs.
- Familiarity with NCI guidelines, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.
