The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic in Arizona is seeking a highly motivated, fellowship-trained hand and distal upper extremity surgeon with expertise in all aspects of hand, wrist, forearm, and elbow surgery to join our academic medical practice in the Division of Hand Surgery. The ideal candidate will have broad expertise in total elbow reconstruction, complex forearm trauma, and complex wrist and hand surgery.

Microsurgical expertise is desired but not required. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a multidisciplinary division.

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic is unified in its vision to improve the care of orthopedic patients, not just at Mayo Clinic but for patients nationwide and worldwide. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed original research and providing daily orthopedic education to residents and fellows. Regular, high-level participation in extramural academic and CME activities with national and regional hand surgery organizations is expected, along with pursuit of leadership opportunities within specialty societies.

The position is 1.0 FTE clinical/surgical. The candidate is expected to build a differentiated practice that attracts patients from the US and abroad. As clinical practice matures, protected time for research and education can be earned, but the primary initial focus is establishing a differentiated, destination surgical practice.

Hand call is shared among division members, with current responsibility of approximately one week per month; this frequency is expected to decrease as the division grows. Residents and PAs provide first call coverage for emergency room and hospital consults at all times. Mayo Clinic Hospital is not a level one trauma center and is not part of a regional trauma system.

Must be board-certified/board-eligible in Orthopedic Surgery or Plastic Surgery with fellowship training and certificate of added qualifications in Hand Surgery, and eligible for medical licensure in the State of Arizona.
