The Core Faculty Adjunct / Family Medicine Physician serves as both a clinical educator and practicing physician, responsible for teaching, mentoring, and supervising medical learners while providing high-quality, patient-centered family medicine care. This role supports the program’s academic mission through curriculum development and delivery, learner and resident supervision, scholarly activities, and participation in program development and improvement initiatives. The physician maintains an active clinical practice while fostering an educational environment that promotes clinical excellence, professional development, and patient-centered care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide comprehensive family medicine care to patients across the lifespan in outpatient and/or inpatient settings, as applicable.
  • Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies, clinical standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments, develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans, and provide ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, diagnostic reasoning, and decision-making within the scope of family medicine practice.
  • Accurately and timely document patient encounters, assessments, treatment plans, and other required information in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Utilize EHR systems and applicable clinical and educational technologies effectively.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, quality, and safety of patient care.
Teaching & Learner Supervision
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to support the development, implementation, and delivery of the Core Family Medicine Curriculum.
  • Oversee and contribute to designated areas of the curriculum based on clinical expertise and program needs.
  • Provide clinical supervision, instruction, mentorship, and guidance to residents and medical students.
  • Supervise learners in clinical settings through direct observation, case discussion, feedback, and formal evaluation.
  • Foster an educational environment that promotes clinical reasoning, professionalism, evidence-based practice, and patient-centered care.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to learners and support their professional and clinical development.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in educational meetings, faculty development activities, and program initiatives as required.
  • Support program accreditation requirements and maintain compliance with applicable standards, including ACGME, LCME, and other applicable regulatory or accrediting requirements.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and other academic initiatives consistent with program expectations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Employment Relationship

This position is employed by HealthyU Clinics and serves as Core Faculty for the Abrazo Family Medicine Residency through HealthyU Clinics’ educational partnership with Abrazo Health. The physician is responsible for fulfilling both the clinical responsibilities of HealthyU Clinics and the educational, teaching, and faculty responsibilities of the residency program.

Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
