Vocational Instructor at Beacon Group
We are a 501(c)(3) non‑profit serving people with disabilities across Southern Arizona. The Vocational Instructor works full‑time, providing individualized training and support to clients pursuing GED, college admission, workplace computer skills, and life skills.
Position OverviewBeacon is seeking a dynamic, full‑time Vocational Instructor who will deliver one‑on‑one instruction and support to clients. Responsibilities include GED test preparation, workforce computer training (including CompTIA A+), college admissions assistance, and broader life skill development.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provide instruction on GED test preparation across all required subjects.
- Deliver employment‑related computer skills training: basic literacy, typing, web safety, Microsoft Office, and general workplace skills.
- Teach life and social skills, self‑advocacy, budgeting, communication, and other areas identified in client service plans.
- Support clients enrolled or interested in college programs, including admission, registration, course selection, funding options, accommodations, class preparation, study skills, and organization.
- Assign and grade independent study activities suitable for individual learning needs.
- Complete thorough and accurate documentation for all services promptly.
- Conduct ongoing follow‑up with assigned clients to promote regular participation.
- Communicate weekly with the Vocational Services Manager on client progress and plan changes.
- Collaborate with team members to develop lesson plans, resources, and training approaches.
- Maintain the ability to sit, view a monitor, and work effectively with staff, clients, and the public.
- Meet deadlines and follow instructions consistently.
- High school diploma required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - 1–2 years of instructional software/course experience.
- Experience teaching, training, or tutoring and at least 1 year of direct support work with adults diagnosed with a physical or mental disability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and email; experience with Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Current registration and insurance coverage.
- Valid Arizona driver’s license and proof of good driving; pass Beacon driving test.
- Successful drug test and background check.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain and maintain it.
- Certification in Article IX (if applicable).
- Fingerprint Clearance Card certification.
- Strong organization and oral presentation skills.

A minimum of 10 hours a week and a maximum of 25 hours per week, depending on client engagement.
