Job Summary

The Training Officer II will work under the direction of the Staff Development Manager/Academy Commander and is the principal architect responsible for establishing and continuously refining the agency-wide training curriculum, ensuring all programs are developed and delivered according to best practices in adult learning. This role manages the full instructional design lifecycle, including the systematic design, development, implementation, revision, and evaluation of dynamic courseware.

The Officer ensures all training content aligns with both industry and Department standards, focusing on measurable performance goals and business objectives.

Job Duties

Core to the position is identifying and addressing the professional development needs of Department employees. This includes conducting ongoing comprehensive training needs assessments via surveys, meetings with work groups, and consultation with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). The Training Officer 2 leverages these insights to assess present and future requirements, establish clear educational goals and objectives, and subsequently create all related curriculum, instructor guides, reports, and supporting audio and visual materials to deliver a highly effective adult learning experience.

Crucially, this role drives the revamping of annual in-service training, integrating current and future learning development tools and technologies to ensure content delivery remains modern, engaging, and highly effective. The Officer also collaborates with Department leadership on employee development accomplishments and coordinates the successful deployment of all training, including computer-based programs and special events.

Selective Preference(s)

A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required; training experience in a related field; work experience in corrections or other areas of Law Enforcement is desirable.
