POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role is with the principal, to analyze student data and create and institute an academic achievement plan for the school. Master teachers lead cluster groups and provide demonstration lessons, coaching and team teaching to Mentor and Career teachers. They also spend, on average, two hours per day teaching students. Master teachers collaborate to determine and to develop the adoption of learning resources.
They are partners with the principal in evaluating teachers. Master teachers also partner with the principal(s) in sharing some of the responsibility of interacting with the parents.

LEADERSHIP STANDARDS:
* Analyzes student data to identify school, cluster goals, teacher goals, and student learning goals.
* Develops a school academic achievement plan.
* Creates a school assessment plan.
* Monitors goal setting, activities, classroom follow-up and goal attainment for cluster groups and Individual teachers.
* Assesses teacher evaluation results.
* Works additional days beyond the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Analyzes school-wide student data as the basis for developing a long-range plan.
* Develops the school plan, utilizing the Horizon Honors Professional Evaluation Rubric
* Oversees planning, facilitation and follow-up of cluster group meetings during Professional Growth Blocks.
* Coaches Mentor Teachers, Team Leaders and Associate Teachers to develop, maintain and evaluate yearly professional goals using student data
* Co-plan, and co-teach with teachers, demonstrates model lessons, and develops and facilitates implementation the curriculum aligned to state standards.
* Observes and provides peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teachers' Flight Plan coaching goals.
* Demonstrates professionalism at all times.
* Follows all administrative procedures and policies of the school.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
While the master teacher is expected to come to the job with a high level of educational knowledge, they will be afforded the opportunity to enhance their skills and provide their teachers with only the best instructional interventions and strategies.
STAFF DEVELOPMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
* Works with Principal to design, lead and deliver research-based professional development for cluster groups, content area groups and individuals.
* Presents new learning in cluster, content groups or individual coaching sessions supported with research based or field-tested evidence of increased student achievement.
* Models new learning in cluster meetings and in classrooms, demonstrating how to effectively implement the skill developed in cluster or individual coaching sessions.
* Provides access to materials and research-based instructional methods to cluster group, content group or individual teachers.
* Works closely with teachers to plan instruction and assessments.
* Guides and reviews teacher Flight Plan coaching logs.
CLUSTER AND GROUP PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
* Works with the Principal to develop long-range cluster plans.
* Maintains weekly cluster group, content group or individual coaching meeting records and activities with other members of the leadership team.
* Oversees and leads, co-leads or attends selected cluster and content meetings weekly
* Provides appropriate follow-up in the classroom. (Observations/feedback, model teaching, demonstration lessons, and co-planning or co-teaching following every cluster meeting and in individual teacher coaching situations.)
* Assesses all cluster groups, content groups and individual teacher progress on their goals.
MARGINAL DUTIES:
* Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
