JOB DESCRIPTION:

* This position requires serving the either elementary (K-5) or middle/high school (6-12) at locations in Phoenix ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).

The Special Education Teacher will:

* Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students receiving special education and related services.

* Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications

* Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines

* Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process

* Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.

* Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Qualifications:

* Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.

* Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.

Education/Certification:

* Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor's degree

* Valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)

* A current Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Experience:

* 1 year of successful teaching experience (preferably in a K-12 school setting)

* 1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience (preferred)

* The ideal candidate has previous experience in Special Education.
