AZACS is growing, and we invite you to apply to be part of our award-winning team
AZACS was awarded the 2023/2024 National ESEA Distinguished Schools Award for Arizona and the 2022 YASS Prize for innovation in education and providing a transformational experience by expanding unique individualized learning programs for autism charter schools.
Candidates must be experienced in classroom teaching, STEAM initiatives, and ABA teaching strategies, and must have significant experience conducting these activities in school settings. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to be trained, coached, and be able to motivate instructional staff in the classroom. The STEAM teacher develops strategies, skills, tools, and techniques to effectively teach science, technology, engineering, and math to students.
Duties:
* Facilitate and improve the school's science and technology programs
* Actively engage in the development and implementation of the curricula for technology, engineering, and science programs
* Maintain current knowledge of developments in the STEAM model, including science and technology
* Collaborate with other subject teachers to support STEAM programs and initiatives
* Plan and execute programs to actively engage students
* Plan and oversee technology curricula
* Actively participate in the professional development/training in the school to promote learning and teaching best practices
* Supervise and ensure the safety of students in the class
* Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills
* Develop, write, and modify course syllabi or curricula overview on an as-needed basis
* Use a variety of technological applications and online resources
* Enhance productivity and learning opportunities through technology.
* Ensure that classroom support staff are implementing instructional strategies and lessons as set forth by the Early Learning Center Campus Director
* Create a safe and effective learning environment
* Weekly lesson planning for instruction of state standards with support staff
* Provide daily feedback to support staff
* Participate in regular observations and in-the-moment coaching from the Early Learning Center Campus Director and implement action steps following coaching sessions
* Regular parent communication following AZACS guidelines
* Modification of materials to meet student needs and IEP requirements
* Maintain substitute plans in case of absence
* Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
* Contribute to IEPs as appropriate
* Other duties as assigned by the administration
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities in a classroom environment
* Completion of 3 years of teaching in one of the following areas:
Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Technology
* Enrollment in the AZACS Teaching Certification program or a college/university certification program is required after obtaining a bachelor's degree
* Mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
* Track record of success in behavior management with students with autism or other special needs
* Ability to approach situations with optimism and perseverance
* Ability to communicate with parents, co-workers, and professional contacts courteously and professionally, and follow AZACS guidelines
* Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously
* Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
* Experience in structured teaching, center-based model preferred
* Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
* Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
* Consistent and regular attendance is a key requirement of this position
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* Set up of lessons and instructional activities for classroom support staff. Coaches, monitors, and mentors classroom support staff working with students with disabilities.
