Purpose
:
The job of Teacher - Middle School is to provide support to the instructional process by serving as a middle school teacher with responsibilities for developing student success in academics (e.g., reading, writing, language, math) or skills (e.g., art, music, physical education); supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines;
collaborating with other teachers, professional staff, and administrators to address instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to inquiries from students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress. This position reports to the Site Administrator.
- Administers subject-specific assessments and tests for the purpose of assessing the level of students competencies.
- Advices parents/guardians of student progress to communicate expectations and develop methods for improvement.
- Advises students to improve performance, health status, problem solving techniques and related personal issues.
- Assesses student progress toward objectives to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration.
- Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, District personnel, parents and community resources to improve student outcomes and support the school improvement plan.
- Demonstrates pedagogical approaches that engage learners and address individual student requirements.
- Differentiates classroom work to address individualized learning within lesson plans.
- Directs student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers to provide an effective classroom program and address student needs.
- Instructs students to improve success in academics through a defined course of study.
- Manages student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
- Monitors students in various educational environments (classroom, field trips, dances, athletic events) for a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in meetings (e.g., district, staff, departmental) to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.
- Participates on PLC team to review data and instructional practices.
- Prepares written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to document student progress and meet mandated requirements.
- Reports health and safety issues to the assigned administrator and appropriate agencies for student safety and compliance with guidelines.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources for resolving issues or providing information/direction.
- Responds to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Bachelor s degree in a job-related area. - Experience

Apply assessment instruments; operate standard office equipment and software; maintain accurate records; apply curriculum and instructional techniques. - Knowledge
