Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with counseling department members to provide a comprehensive guidance program for the assigned school.
  • Advocate for students.
  • Use computer technology and accurate record keeping to assist students with course selection, graduation planning, and post‑secondary education guidance.
  • Carry out duties as stated in State Statutes, Board policies, and the Professional Agreement.
  • Provide academic advisement, prevention and intervention activities, and support with personal/social and career development plans.
  • Work with students, staff, families, and community members as part of the education program.
Qualifications
  • A current Arizona School Counselor certificate and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Secondary school counseling or teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to learn, transcript evaluation and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of test interpretation.
  • Knowledge of and experience in vocational and career planning.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to ethnic, cultural, and socio‑economic influences on students.
  • Knowledge of individual and group counseling techniques.
  • Awareness of new and changing developments in the counseling and education profession.
  • Computer literacy.
