The Assistant Training Director supports the Training Director in leading and administering the Phoenix Electrical JATC Installer‑Technician Apprenticeship and Training Program. This director‑level position requires strong knowledge of JATC governance, apprenticeship standards, and the Electrical Training Alliance Installer‑Technician curriculum. The role is responsible for supporting program design, curriculum implementation, budgeting, staffing, compliance, and facility development, ensuring classroom instruction aligns with on‑the‑job training and industry standards.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing administration of the Installer‑Technician apprenticeship program in compliance with approved Standards of Apprenticeship and Registration Agency requirements.
- Support development and management of annual program budgets, including staffing, curriculum materials, labs, tools, equipment, facilities, and technology.
- Oversee integration of the Electrical Training Alliance Installer‑Technician curriculum into a structured multi‑year instructional plan.
- Support compliance with JATC policies, collective bargaining agreements, EEO and affirmative action requirements, and state and federal apprenticeship regulations.
- Serve as a technical resource to instructors and support lesson planning, lab development, testing, and assessment.
- Assist with instructor recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and instructional technology support.
- Support apprentice selection, evaluation, progression, remediation, and coordination with employers.
- Assist in planning, maintaining, and expanding telecommunications and low‑voltage training labs and instructional resources.
- Maintain accurate program records, track expenditures, and assist with reports to the Training Director and JATC Committee.
- Collaborate with employers, vendors, manufacturers, and committees to align training with industry needs and secure instructional resources.
- Minimum:
- Journey‑level Installer‑Technician or equivalent telecommunications/low‑voltage industry experience.
- Working knowledge of registered apprenticeship programs and on‑the‑job training processes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Preferred:
- Prior JATC or apprenticeship instructional or leadership experience.
- Experience launching or administering registered apprenticeship programs.
- Familiarity with Electrical Training Alliance curriculum and learning platforms.
Office, classroom, and laboratory environment; some evening/weekend hours and occasional travel required.
Exempt salaried position with IBEW Local 640 / AZ Chapter NECA Inside Wireman benefits.
