QUALIFICATIONS
  • Current Arizona Principal Certificate at time of application
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful classroom teaching experience in a multicultural setting preferred
  • Evidence of being a life-long learner
  • Demonstrated ability to provide instructional leadership
  • Demonstrated administrative skills and leadership ability
  • Demonstrated ability to assess student learning
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize school issues
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and support intellectually rigorous and coherent systems of curriculum, instruction and assessment to promote each student's academic success and well-being.
  • Establishes goals based on student achievement data, and implements strategies, which include Visible Learning goal setting for students, and uses multiple assessments to measure if students are making one year’s growth or more.
  • Use the walkthrough process to engage in two-way communication and collaboration with teachers to promote continuous improvement.
  • Establish an inclusive, caring and supportive community that supports the academic success and well-being of each student.
  • Assign staff to positions that will best meet the learning needs of all students.
  • Select, train, supervise and evaluate all personnel assigned to the school.
  • Engage families and the community in meaningful, reciprocal, and mutually beneficial ways to promote each student’s academic success and well-being.
  • Address parent/community concerns in an expedient and professional manner.
  • Participate in community, school and district meetings, as appropriate or assigned.
  • Supervise the operation of the buildings, grounds and other school property for the protection of facilities and safety of users.
  • Coordinate multiple school activities with the district and inform the Superintendent’s office of school-wide events.
  • Establish a leadership model that promotes participation of teachers, parents, and support staff in school improvement strategies.
  • Use data relevant to the school’s improvement plan to provide an effectiveness assessment of improvement efforts to the Superintendent or designee as requested.
  • Inform staff and parents continuously on the goals and objectives of the District Strategic Plan.
  • Assume responsibility for sound fiscal management and submit a yearly budget to the Superintendent or designee.
  • Ensure school compliance with Governing Board policies and state and federal laws.
  • Keep the Superintendent and other appropriate administrative staff informed of school issues.
  • Act ethically and professionally in personal conduct and school leadership.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Work with the school improvement team to create school goals, monitor progress, and design a professional development plan aligned to walkthroughs, including job‑embedded coaching, which promotes adult learning.
  • Articulate, advocate, and cultivate core values that define the school’s culture, focusing on child-centered education, high expectations, equity, inclusiveness, social justice, openness, caring, trust, and continuous improvement.
  • Create a culture where all stakeholders place students at the center of education and own responsibility for each student’s academic success and well-being.
  • Familiar with and practice Arizona’s Administrator’s Standards for School Leaders.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Cartwright School District and departmental policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Positions in this class typically require standing, stooping, reaching, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Medium Work:
    Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
