Job Description QUALIFICATIONSAbility to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators. High School Diploma preferred.
REPORTS TOPrincipal
JOB GOALPerforms any combination of following instructional tasks in the library to assist teaching staff of public elementary or middle school by performing the following duties.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Composes forms, reports, letters, and other documents as required.
- Shelves library materials in call number order according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
- Writes notices concerning overdue books.
- Repairs damaged books and processes more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
- Assists in the inventory of library books and materials.
- Oversees the general attractiveness of the library and its displays.
- Organizes the storage and handling of audiovisual materials and equipment.
- Supervises the scheduling of materials for classroom use.
- Checks library materials in and out.
- Assists students and others in locating library materials.
- Maintains order on grounds as well as classrooms.
- Operates audiovisual equipment, copy machines, and computers.
- Coordinates with the instructional coach to plan and instruct students in literary unit studies.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
- Perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios.
- Read a variety of manuals; writes documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others.
- Understand multi-step written and oral instructions.
- Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: recordkeeping principles; and office equipment/software.

- Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.
