SummaryUnder general supervision implements the Kid Space program, ensuring a safe, creative, developmentally appropriate environment.
Essential Functions- Assists in the supervision of Instructional Assistants and Support Instructors, participate in the evaluation process, and resolve staff conflicts.
- Develops and utilizes developmentally appropriate materials, which stimulate learning, exploration and creativity in children.
- Develops and plans children’s daily activities.
- Monitors children’s activities to ensure safety at all times, transitions children to and from the program.
- Maintains accurate attendance records at all times.
- Develops annual budget, purchasing of equipment and supplies.
- Maintains program files, student records and other confidential information.
- Dispenses prescribed medication to children upon coordination with the school nurse and/or health technician.
- Ensures center complies with all state Department Health Services (DHS) and Department of Economic Security (DES) regulations.
- Defining, establishing and maintaining standards of acceptable behavior using positive methods, which support children’s self-esteem.
- Promotes and maintains parent-school relationships. Communicates with parents about basic program information and incidents involving their child. Fosters relationships with the Principals, Office Managers, teachers, and cafeteria staff with regard to the Kid Space program.
- Attends professional development training and staff meetings.
- Creates planning and supervises breaks and summer camps.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and 18 months experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- DHS qualification for licensing director.
- CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Certification within thirty days of hire date.
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Recreation, or related field and six (6) months experience working in a child care setting.
