The School of Community Resources and Development (SCRD) in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Faculty Associates and Academic Associates are part‑time appointments on one‑semester renewable contracts to teach one or two courses (not to exceed 0.40 FTE) per semester, either in‑person or online.
Faculty Associate and Academic Associate positions are fixed‑term appointments that are not eligible for benefits, sabbaticals, or tenure. Salary is based upon qualifications and assigned teaching load. Official transcripts are required prior to employment. Individuals employed as Faculty Associates and Academic Associates may not hold multiple, non‑benefits eligible appointments at Arizona State University.
Essential Functions- Teach courses as assigned.
- Deliver engaging in‑person (and/or online) lectures, discussions, and content.
- Contribute to the creation of assignments and exams.
- Evaluate and grade student work according to rubrics.
- Manage Canvas learning management platform and hold office hours to assist students.
- Be comfortable with technology and demonstrate a strong appetite for teaching, leading, and learning.
- Earned master’s degree in parks, recreation, sport management or a related field from an accredited institution by the time of appointment.
- Three years of related experience (prior teaching and/or practitioner experience that involves developing and/or providing training and development workshops/courses to adult learners).

Successful candidates will demonstrate throughout their materials how their teaching, research, and service will contribute to the fulfillment of the ASU Charter.
Desired Qualifications- Experience working in parks, recreation, sport management, youth development or similar fields, especially in leadership capacities.
- Prior higher education/adult teaching, guest lecturing and/or training experiences, online or in‑person.
- Evidence of effective collaboration skills.
- Experience with technology/course management systems such as Canvas.
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
