Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators. High School Diploma preferred.

REPORTS TO:

Principal

JOB GOAL:

Performs any combination of following instructional tasks in the library to assist teaching staff of public elementary or middle school by performing the following duties.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Composes forms, reports, letters, and other documents as required.
  • Shelves library materials in call number order according to the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
  • Writes notices concerning overdue books.
  • Repairs damaged books and processes more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
  • Assists in the inventory of library books and materials.
  • Oversees the general attractiveness of the library and its displays.
  • Organizes the storage and handling of audiovisual materials and equipment.
  • Supervises the scheduling of materials for classroom use.
  • Checks library materials in and out.
  • Assists students and others in locating library materials.
  • Maintains order on grounds as well as classrooms.
  • Operates audiovisual equipment, copy machines, and computers.
  • Coordinates with the instructional coach to plan and instruct students in literary unit studies.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

  • Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.
