Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators.
  • High School Diploma preferred.

Reports To:

  • Principal, professional staff to whom assigned

Job Goal:

To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher with planned activities and instructional programs.
  • Record and file statistical data, grades, and reports.
  • Assist in preparing instructional materials for daily instruction as planned by the teacher; set up and operate audiovisual equipment; type educational materials; ability to use and operate copy machines, and computers.
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining individual student records.
  • Assist in supervising students in the classroom, lunchroom, and on the playground under the supervision of a district certified staff member.
  • Present subject matter to students, utilizing variety of methods and techniques such as lecture, discussion, and supervised role‑playing, under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade examinations.
  • Assist students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
  • Confere with parents on progress of students.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.
