Salary placement range: $16.66 to $19.74 per hour, depending on level of education and experience.
Job SummaryThe Instructional Assistant assists teachers in implementing the EL instructional program, working directly with children in small groups or one-to-one. This grant funded position is for one year only.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervises children in the classroom.
Qualifications and RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Education and Experience- Associate’s Degree or equivalent of two years college education (60 semester hours) or passing test results from the Para Pro or Work Keys assessment is required.
- Prefer prior experience working with children.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Spanish Bilingual preferred.
As a condition of employment, all new hires must obtain and maintain a valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Language Skills- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Interface effectively with other departments, school personnel, and external contacts.
- Pass proficiency tests in Math, Reading, and Grammar with a score of 75% or better.
- Work with individuals and groups of students to support academics and behavior management.
- Patience working with children.
- Learn new skills; flexibility; willingness to perform a variety of tasks.
- Follow written and oral directions and complete assignments.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents, and staff.
- Work independently without direct supervision.
- Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Skills and Abilities
- Accurately perform assigned tasks.
- Perform duties with awareness of district requirements and School Board Policies.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
The employee must stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions. May lift and move up to 50 pounds of materials.
