Summary:
Under general supervision, incumbent provides outreach to families with children from birth to five years living within the District and surrounding communities. FRC Liaison outreach will help to connect families to early literacy programs, parent support programs and comprehensive information, resource and referral services to support early childhood development and positive, early childhood experiences. This position requires use of the employee's own vehicle during work hours, which requires a clean driving record, proof of automobile insurance and a valid Arizona driver's license.
In general, the incumbent is responsible for supporting families with children from birth to five years with the information, resources, referrals, and educational opportunities to increase the family's capacity to ensure the safety, well-being and optimal development of young children, including language development, early literacy acquisition and providing the home environment children need to thrive socially, emotionally and physically.
Essential Functions:
* Contributes comprehensive information, resources and referral services to support healthy, safe and developmentally appropriate environments for young children, ages birth to five years. Assists the coordination of community resources and partnerships that provide services to families with childrent from ages birth to five years. (30% of Daily Activities)
* Assists the coordination of parent education activities at the WRIC location(s). Assists the recruitiment and enrollment of families in the WRIC parenting activities and early childhood learning experiences for their children. Monitors attendance in the activities and workshops. Assits in implementing strategies to find families not currently connected with educational or social services. (30% of Daily Activities)
* Facilitates or co-facilitates parent education workshops, family early-literacy and social-emotional learning activities and family support groups that focus on early childhood development (physical, emotional, social, literacy and language development). (15% of Weekly Activities)
* Collaborates with WESD Social Services Department to coordinate resources to meet families' and children's needs at all 32 WESD schools. (15% of Weekly Activities)
* Attends school family engagement activities, First Things First meetings, and other workshops and trainings related to early childhood development and parent education. (5% of Weekly Activities)
* Assists the quarterly collection and preparation of data for First Things First data reporting system and supports periodic updates to the WRIC quarterly plans to implement First Things First Standards of Practice. (5% of Weekly Activities)
* Performs related duties, as required. (As Required)
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
* High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, prior to being hired.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with parents, schools and community.
* Two years experience working with parents/families and community members.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that the applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
* Proficiency in speaking, writing and reading a second language predominant in the community.
* Three years experience in working with parents/families and community members.
* Knowledge of First Things First Family Resource Center progams for families with children, ages birth to five years.
