Position Summary:
The Student – Library Aide is responsible for providing support to the Library Department by performing a variety of computer, clerical, and library duties in a college library, and providing general information and assistance to students and staff.
Position is open until filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:- Operates all computers, printers and software applicable to the library, including use of internet, library operating system, word processing, desktop publishing and spreadsheet applications.
- Assists students and staff in using online databases.
- Assists staff and students to locate and check out books and materials.
- Assists in the instruction of staff and students in the use and operation of networked computers, software and related resources.
- Operates equipment such as the WEPA printer, microfiche readers, and copy machine.
- Performs a variety of clerical duties, including processing and maintaining library materials, entering records and files, checkout of computers in computer labs, books and related reference materials.
- Helps conduct periodic inventories of book collection, materials, software and equipment as assigned, participates in ordering and maintaining supplies and equipment, store and discard materials according to standard procedures.
- Helps maintain the physical appearance and ease of use of the library.
- Evaluates and maintains orderliness of shelved materials, shelve books, periodicals and newspapers, pulls and routes materials in need of mending, binding, repairing, or discarding.
- Monitors the library and the computer lab.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Employees will follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
Education and Experience Requirements:Enrollment at Cochise College with a minimum of 6 credits per semester and 3 credits in the summer.
Possess and maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or higher.
Students attending Cochise College on an F-1 Visa require full-time enrollment with a minimum of 12 credits per semester and six credits in the summer.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of and ability to follow college policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of the proper operation of and the ability to use personal computers and standard office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to relate to others in a professional, helpful manner.
- Ability to relate to a diverse population and to maintain composure when faced with difficult situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other department staff, students and the public.
Work is primarily performed under general supervision. Incumbent generally performs work in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
Physical Requirements:Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate. Sedentary work:
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting majority of time; walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Mental application:
Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability and creative problem solving skills are important.
