2026-27 Library Media Technician - Indian Bend ES

Starting Date: Aug 3, 2026

Location: Indian Bend Elementary School

Duration: 9 months, 6.5 hours/day

Grade: 13, $15.44/hour

Position Type: Non-Interim

Dates: 8/3/2026 - 5/27/2027

Purpose: To provide support to the instructional program by managing the school's library collection and technology resources. The technician will assist students and staff with identifying and utilizing a wide range of materials and equipment, while also performing essential clerical and maintenance functions.

Essential Functions Library Management and Support
  • Manage the circulation desk, including checking materials in and out for students and staff using an automated library system.
  • Assist students, teachers, and administrators in locating and selecting appropriate library materials for research, projects, and personal reading.
  • Provide basic instruction to students and staff on using the online catalog and other library resources.
  • Create and maintain records and reports related to circulation, overdue items, and collection size.
  • Process new student library cards and manage notices for missing, damaged, or overdue materials.
  • Process new library books, periodicals, and media materials by cataloging, barcoding, and preparing them for circulation in accordance with district policies (including ARS 15-189.07).
  • Shelve returned books and materials accurately and perform repairs on damaged items to ensure their availability.
  • Supervise student helpers or volunteers as assigned.
  • Communicate with parents and maintain records regarding access to young adult books.
  • Participate in unit meetings, in‑service training, and workshops to stay current on job functions and district policies.
Technology Support and Inventory
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all technology‑related issues for students and staff.
  • Manage the deployment, maintenance, and repair of all student technology, including Chromebooks, projectors, document cameras, and printers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems with hardware and software/application access, including password resets.
  • Collaborate with the district IT department to escalate complex technical issues and equipment repairs.
  • Process and issue student s and assign loaner equipment as needed.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all school technology, including student and staff devices, to ensure optimal use and management.
  • Assist with the annual inventory of all library books and technology, including weeding out damaged or outdated materials and coordinating the disposal of old equipment in accordance with district policy.
  • Manage the process of issuing devices to students, including verifying the Device User Agreement.
General Functions
  • Monitor student activities to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, staff, and parents regarding the availability of materials, overdue fines, and other library‑related questions.
  • Order supplies and equipment to ensure they are available when needed.
Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in a library, media center, or technology support role preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Familiarity with various technology hardware (e.g., Chromebooks, projectors, document cameras, interactive flat panels).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide clear, patient support to students and staff with varying levels of technical proficiency.
Work Environment

The specific demands can vary based on the layout of the library and school. Library Media Technicians often spend significant portions of their day sitting, particularly when working at a circulation desk, cataloging materials at a computer, or performing administrative tasks. Standing is also a common requirement. This includes assisting students with technology problems directly at the desk, organizing materials for display, supervising study areas, and moving around the library to answer questions or assist with classroom equipment.
