Job Type: 9 months, 6 hours/day, Grade 15, $16.48/hour,
Hours:
11:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Non-Interim
Purpose Statement
The job of CE Childcare Associate I is aimed at providing support to the instructional program within the assigned classroom with specific responsibility for implementing programs for the personal and emotional growth of the referred students; assisting in the monitoring of behaviors; and communicating observations to teachers, parents and administrators.
This job reports to CE Childcare Associate V.
Essential Functions- Administers first aid for ill, medically fragile and/or injured children.
- Assists students with personal care needs such as diapering, toilet training, feeding, etc.
- Assists the site manager with age appropriate activities, such as games, art, music, science, language, nutrition, playground, washing hands, etc., to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Communicates with internal stakeholders to convey and/or receive information required to perform job functions.
- Completes a minimum of 18 verifiable hours of approved training annually to meet mandated requirements per Department of Health Services regulations.
- Distributes instructional and/or play materials to provide required supplies.
- Establishes positive individual relationships to build student confidence and self-esteem.
- Implements under the supervision of the assigned site manager, instructional programs and lesson plans to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, files and records, ensuring availability and providing a safe, comfortable, supportive learning environment.
- Maintains acceptable behavior standards consistent with district and program policy.
- Monitors students in a variety of settings (snack time, games, playground activities, quiet time, field trips, classroom, homework time, etc.) to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
- Organizes quiet or active, age appropriate indoor and/or outdoor activities to participate in learning activities with children.
- Prepares nutritional snacks, lunches, bottles, etc. to comply with established guidelines.
- Provides ongoing feedback to inform supervisor, teacher, and parents of students' progress.
- Transfers children directly from/to parents or designee to ensure safety and meet district requirements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for efficient functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Skills: Preparation and maintenance of accurate records; ability to perform multiple tasks and upgrade skills to meet changing conditions.
Knowledge: Basic math, reading and following instructions, understanding multi-step written and oral instructions, understanding stages of child development, methods of motivating and controlling children, awareness of codes, regulations, and laws related to counseling students.
Abilities: Scheduling activities; gathering and collating data; using basic job-related equipment; working with a diversity of individuals; problem solving to identify issues and create action plans; providing direction and leadership; communicating with persons of varied backgrounds; maintaining confidentiality; adapting to changing priorities; working as part of a team.
ResponsibilityResponsibilities include working with immediate supervision; leading, guiding, and coordinating others; utilizing resources from other work units; and having the opportunity to impact organization’s services.
Work EnvironmentPhysical demands include occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, significant fine finger dexterity. Job requires 0% sitting, 0% walking, 0% standing. Exposure to risk of injury and illness; clean atmosphere.
ExperienceJob-related experience desired.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent.
