Position: 2026-2027 Academic Dean - Instructional Support and Teacher Development (CC 2023)

Job Title: Academic Dean – Instructional Support & Teacher Development

Employment: Full-time, Teacher Contract with 201 days

Reports to: School Principal

Salary: Salary and benefits in accordance with district salary schedules and board approval

Supervises: No supervisory or evaluative authority

Job Summary: The Academic Dean provides supplemental instructional leadership, coaching, professional learning, and state assessment coordination to support improved student academic outcomes. The position is primarily funded through Title I. The Academic Dean serves as the primary campus lead for instructional coaching and state assessment coordination and remains non‑evaluative and non‑administrative, not including formal teacher evaluation, disciplinary authority, or acting administrator responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Valid Arizona Teacher Certification
  • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Successful teaching experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
  • Experience providing instructional coaching or professional development
  • Knowledge of Cognitive Coaching practices
  • Experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse learning environments

Essential Functions:

Instructional Leadership & Coaching
  • Provide non-evaluative instructional coaching to teachers, including lesson planning support, classroom modeling, demonstration lessons, co‑teaching, and reflective feedback.
  • Lead implementation and monitoring of Title I‑funded instructional programs and interventions.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing instructional and assessment data to identify instructional priorities and targeted student supports.
  • Support effective classroom environments through the use of district-approved curriculum, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Maintain documentation of instructional coaching activities, goals, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
State Assessment Coordination & Compliance
  • Serve as campus lead for coordination and compliance of state‑required assessments such as AZELLA, AASA, and other applicable assessments.
  • Coordinate assessment schedules, logistics, materials, accommodations, and documentation in accordance with state and district guidelines.
  • Ensure assessment security procedures, training requirements, and compliance protocols are implemented with fidelity.
  • Provide training and technical support to staff related to assessment administration and compliance expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Principal and district assessment staff to ensure accurate implementation and reporting.
  • Support post‑assessment data analysis to inform instructional planning and campus improvement efforts.
Professional Learning & School wide Capacity Building
  • Plan and facilitate school‑based professional learning aligned to instructional priorities and student needs, with direction from the Principal.
  • Facilitate professional learning related to assessment literacy, including analysis and instructional use of benchmark, CFA, AZELLA and AASA data.
  • Support collaborative instructional practices, including PLCs and peer observation structures.
Collaboration & Additional Duties
  • Collaborate with the Principal to align instructional coaching, professional learning, and assessment coordination with campus improvement priorities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal that align with the instructional, non‑evaluative scope of the position.
