Qualifications:
* Possesses or qualifies for appropriate Arizona Speech/Language Impaired Certificate
* Possesses special area endorsements as required by state and/or federal regulations or district policy and procedures.
Required Skills:
* Demonstrates ability to productively manage groups of students.
* Demonstrates accountability for student growth in all areas consistent with District developed goals.
* Produces evidence of a comprehensive background in child development, instructional strategies, classroom curricular implementation, learning theory and the effective school research.
* Plans, implements and evaluates instructional programs appropriate for areas of assignment and student population.
* Works cooperatively with administration and staff at the building level to best meet the educational needs of the student population.
Essential Functions:
* Assesses students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their speech and language deficits and developing recommendations.
* Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
* Consults with teachers, parents, other personnel and/or outside professionals for the purpose of providing requested information, developing plans for services and/or making recommendations.
* Facilitates meetings (e.g. IEP conferences, parent meetings, in-services, etc.) for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students' functional goals.
* Instruct students for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech and language deficits.
* Participates in various meetings (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers and outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations and/or conveying information.
* Prepares documentation (e.g. evaluations, observations, progress, contacts with parents, teachers and outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations and/or conveying information.
* Presents information on various topics related to area of professional expertise in speech pathology for the purpose of communicating information and gaining feedback on treatment issues.
* Researches resources and methods (e.g. intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for students' speech and language services.
* Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment.
* Assumes responsibility for providing instruction to students consistent with the District Goals and Objectives.
* Develops procedures for assessing and evaluating student progress on stated objectives.
* Modifies instruction for students not performing appropriately with grade level materials.
* Demonstrates knowledge in subject areas.
* Helps students develop positive self-concepts.
* Supports and implements established District discipline program.
* Becomes aware of and follows the policies and procedures of the school and District.
* Specifies objectives and teaching procedures for the lesson.
* Demonstrates ability to work with individuals, small and large groups.
* Maintains an attractive and stimulating learning environment.
* Communicates enthusiasm and demonstrates warmth and friendliness.
* Demonstrates sensitivity to needs and feelings of students.
* Maintains positive and disruptive behavior.
* Works cooperatively with colleagues, administrators and community members.
