Job DescriptionJob Goal: To assist professional staff members by performing a variety of tasks related to the operation of classrooms or other instructional areas.
Performance Responsibilities- Instructs students under the direction of the supervising teacher.
- Assists the teacher with planned activities and instructional programs.
- Assists in preparing instructional materials for daily instruction as planned by the teacher; sets up and operates audiovisual equipment; types educational materials; uses copy machines and computers.
- Assists the teacher in maintaining individual student records.
- Assists in supervising students at arrival and dismissal, in the classroom, and lunchroom.
- Presents subject matter to students, utilizing a variety of methods and techniques under the supervision of the teacher.
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts.
- Supports special education students in accordance with individualized education programs.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with teachers, support staff, and school administrators. Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)/restraint certification, First aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training course completed at first available offering by District. High school diploma preferred or equivalent.
