About the Position
A Dean leads the development and implementation of a college’s strategic plan and provides overall leadership and oversight of strategy, operations and academic functions for a college. An individual is responsible for all academic components of a college, including faculty approval and oversight, student and faculty satisfaction/retention, academic policy and standards, and program evaluation. In addition, a Dean develops and implements a college’s budget and ensures the annual operating plan (AOP) is met.
An individual must meet the qualifications to serve as a faculty member.

Direct and indirect management of college academic staff.
Minimum Education and Related Work Experience- Doctorate degree in appropriate college-specific discipline for all except CGS or CBIT;
- College of General Studies (CGS) or College of Business-IT (CBIT) require Master’s degree in appropriate college-specific discipline or Master’s degree in another discipline plus 18 credits in CGS or CBIT accordingly.
- Seven (7) years of experience in a progressively responsible administrative and/or leadership capacity.
- Must meet qualifications required to be a University of Phoenix faculty member.
- Proven experience in a field related to the content of the academic program within the college.
- Demonstrated knowledge in academic program development and evaluation, adult learning principles, and curriculum development.
- Experience in effectively leading and influencing non-direct reports.
- High level of conceptual and strategic thinking to establish and oversee academic program policies, procedures, and standards.
- Demonstrable competence in initiative, logical decision making, and strong program and staff management skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, political savvy, problem-solving, relationship building, negotiation and anticipatory abilities.
- High degree of professionalism, diplomacy, and tact, with strong interpersonal skills and exceptional communication abilities.
- Ability to convey a professional image and represent the organization appropriately.
- Working knowledge of personal software packages to perform the functions listed above.
The annual pay range for this position is $156,600 (minimum), $245,800 (midpoint), and $335,000 (maximum).*
