High School English Language Arts Teacher (26-27 SY)
Starting Date: Jul 20, 2026
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Hours: 8 hours/day (7:00 am–4:00 pm)
Job DescriptionHighly Effective English Language Arts Teacher.
Job Qualifications- Education:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college or university. - Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate, or ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s).
- Valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card, or ability to obtain one.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of best instructional practices.
- Verification of successful classroom teaching performance and/or student teaching experience.
- Ability to foster positive human relationships and work effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Ability to deliver engaging, standards‑aligned lessons across disciplines such as Social Studies/History.
Physical Requirements
- Supervise students in hallways, cafeterias, and outdoor spaces.
- Normal 8‑hour workdays; parent‑teacher conferences, professional development, and extracurricular activities may extend hours.
- Engage with diverse students, manage classroom behavior, and address learning differences.
- Stand and walk around the classroom or school premises for extended periods.
- May need to lift books, teaching materials, and supplies weighing 20 lbs. or more at times.
- Establish positive relationships with students.
- Maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
- Collaborate with parents and school personnel to provide appropriate education for each student.
- Believe that all students can learn at high levels when given proper support and encouragement.
- Develop students’ cognitive capacity and respect for learning.
- Utilize a variety of effective instructional and classroom management techniques.
- Consider individual learning needs and school wide learning goals in lesson planning.
- Utilize district‑adopted textbooks and curriculum guides.
- Incorporate higher‑level thinking strategies and real‑life applications.
- Create instructional and assessment materials aligned with learning objectives.
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter, instructional skills, and resources.
- Use technology or media to enhance learning experiences.
- Collect student achievement data accurately using various tools.
- Implement diagnostic and progress assessments.
- Integrate leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.
- Use data to make instructional decisions that positively impact achievement.
- Maintain student records related to achievement, attendance, and discipline.
- Provide a positive and safe learning environment.
- Support school goals and resolve concerns.
- Communicate expectations of success for all students.
- Administer positive classroom management.
- Assist with other duties in support of Meridian Preparatory Academy.
- Guide the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.
- Adapt mathematics curriculum for individual, small group, or remedial instruction as needed.
- Influence students’ planning of post‑secondary ventures, including career, trade, and/or college.
- Embrace diverse student and staff population.
- Maintain communication with parents, guardians, and staff.
- Engage in professional growth activities to increase knowledge and skill.
- Collaborate to achieve the school’s instructional program and overall goals.
- Demonstrate commitment to the MPA Promise that every student is known by name, served by strength and need, and graduates ready for college, career, and positive community impact.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with parents and school personnel.
- Maintain professional appearance and demonstrate responsible behavior.
- Appropriately interact with staff in academic planning and school committee work.
- Attend staff meetings and extracurricular/school‑related activities and committees.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional growth.
