Employment Type: Full-time, Contract
Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
How You Will Make a Difference at Sun Valley EducationSun Valley Education is seeking a student- and family-centered leader to support the daily operations of our Preschool and Kids Care programs. This position plays an important role in ensuring high-quality experiences for children and families while supporting staff, maintaining safe learning environments, and promoting operational excellence.
The Assistant Director serves as the site leader for a one-classroom preschool program and school-age Kids Care program, working closely with the Principal, Assistant Principal, and network support teams to ensure compliance, effective program operations, and positive family engagement.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a small, well-supported program within a K‑8 school environment while helping build strong relationships with students, families, and staff.
Responsibilities- Supervise, support, and develop Preschool and Kids Care staff.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance support for assigned team members.
- Maintain compliance with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) and Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) regulations.
- Conduct routine program observations to ensure child safety, quality instruction, and operational effectiveness.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for families regarding program questions, enrollment support, and day-to-day concerns.
- Partner with school leadership to address complex situations and ensure consistent communication with families.
- Support program recordkeeping and documentation requirements.
- Assist with maintaining accurate attendance, licensing, health, and safety records.
- Coordinate supplies, materials, and resources needed for daily program operations.
- Support planning and implementation of special events, family engagement activities, and program initiatives.
- Collaborate with school leadership to align Preschool and Kids Care programs with the mission and goals of Sun Valley Education.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support program success and continuity.
- Maintain professional attire appropriate for an early childhood educational environment.
- Wear comfortable, professional shoes suitable for walking, stooping, and active engagement with children, staff, and families.
- Be prepared for a highly interactive role that requires frequent movement, supervision, and hands‑on participation.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.

- Ability to actively supervise children and staff while maintaining a safe and organized environment.

- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices.
- High school diploma or GED with 60 hours of Early Childhood Education (ECE) training plus an additional 12 hours in program administration, planning, development, or management and 24 months of experience; OR Associate's Degree in ECE or a closely related field with at least 6 months of experience.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for Preschool and Kids Care program operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including staff, parents, families, and community partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certification (must be completed in person).
- Valid Food Handler’s Card.
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
- Experience supervising staff in a Preschool, Child Care, Kids Care, or educational setting.
- Experience working within a school, charter school, or educational environment.
- Experience supporting family engagement and program operations.
