Position: Licensed Academic Instructor (60897) - 286852-4596

Position Overview

This Academic Instructor position at Phoenix Job Corps Center will provide instruction, training, and individual achievement plan development for students ages 16‑24, ensuring academic success and confidentiality of student data.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Follow all integrity guidelines and procedures, ensuring no manipulation of student data.
  • Ensure the center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.
  • Provide students with academic training leading to GED/HSD completion and improved literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Offer comprehensive and individualized case management that ensures student progress, achievement, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Maintain an organized and conducive classroom environment.
  • Hold students accountable for following the center’s dress code, behavioral standards, and conduct expectations.
  • Produce quality work and assignments in a thorough, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Maintain appropriate personal attendance, accountability, and productivity standards.
  • Plan, prioritize, and organize assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.
  • Understand and apply job knowledge to effectively complete all duties.
  • Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provide high‑quality supervision and management for the student population, taking swift and appropriate action to positively influence student behavior.
  • Offer quality programs and services for students, ensuring student needs are met and pursuing continuous improvement.
  • Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, clearly and concisely, contributing meaningfully to group efforts.
  • Effectively articulate thoughts and ideas, identify problems, analyze causes, and evaluate appropriate solutions before taking or recommending actions, following up to ensure problems are corrected.
  • Work in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.
  • Accept direction and supervision from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, and temporarily perform job functions as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • A valid in‑state teaching certificate or waiver required.
  • Previous teaching or Job Corps experience preferred.
