DISTRICT TOA - NEW TEACHER MENTOR SY, Grant funded, One Year Only Position
Length of Work Yr: 225 contract days 7/22/2026-6/9/2027
Salary Range: $58,249 +

- Bachelor of Arts Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience, at least 3 in middle school.
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate appropriately certified to teach in a Middle School content area.
- Demonstrated record of exemplary teaching practice in a middle school learning environment.
- Experience working effectively with linguistically and culturally diverse students and special populations.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Credibility and rapport with peers and administrators.
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth and adult learning.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about early career teacher development.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across roles and functions and values confidentiality in mentoring relationships.
To support, guide, and develop beginning middle school educators in their professional growth and instructional practice. The mentor will build trusting, confidential relationships that encourage reflective teaching, build instructional capacity, and promote growth and high achievement for all students. The goal is to foster beginning teacher success, retention, and impact through individualized coaching cycles, collaborative learning, and coordinating support for new teachers by working collaboratively with site and district instructional leaders.
PerformanceResponsibilities
- Provides individualized mentoring for early career educators who teach middle school, aligned with district and program goals.
- Utilizes timely and relevant coaching strategies based on the needs of the teacher.
- Facilitates collaborative planning, co-teaching, and reflective practice with beginning teachers.
- Models best instructional practices and strategies aligned with state standards, and supports mentees in analyzing student data and using it to drive instruction.
- Promotes inclusive practices and learning environments where all students thrive.
- Maintains confidentiality and professional boundaries in mentoring relationships.
- Documents mentoring activities and teacher progress in alignment with program expectations.
- Provides professional feedback and supports mentee goal-setting aligned with Madison’s vision of highly-effective professional practices.
- Participates in mentor training, team meetings, and professional development.
- Collaborates with site and district leadership to align mentoring with school initiatives.
- Collaborates with fellow teachers on assignment to provide relevant and timely support to beginning teachers.
- Demonstrates leadership, adaptability, and initiative in supporting new teacher development.
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
