Course OverviewFundamentals of Microbiology with Lab (BIOS‑242)
This course covers basic concepts of microbiology, with emphasis on medically important microorganisms and infectious diseases. The lab focuses on aseptic techniques, isolation and culture of microorganisms, microscopy, and staining techniques.
Anatomy & Physiology I–IV with Lab (BIOS‑251 thru BIOS‑256)
- Basic anatomical and directional terminology, muscle tissues, and fundamental concepts of cell biology.
- The integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems, special senses, and the endocrine system.
- The cardiovascular, immune, and respiratory systems.
- The digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.
Courses meet one or two times per week for eight weeks. Commitment is on a course‑by‑course basis.
Responsibilities- Develops and provides students with an approved Adtalem Global Education syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus.
- Organizes, prepares, and regularly revises and updates all course materials.
- Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course‑related software, including websites, e‑mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weight distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provides timely feedback to students.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Earned a master’s or doctorate degree in the course subject, with a minimum of 18 or more graduate credit hours earned directly in the topic.
- Are able to provide official transcripts for all earned degrees from a regionally accredited institution (or a NACES approved U.S. course‑by‑course equivalency evaluation for degrees earned and conferred outside of the U.S.).
- Have taught or are recognized as a “natural” at teaching and helping others learn.
- Possess a genuine passion for nursing, education, and lifelong learning.
- Have exceptional subject matter expertise as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Expected compensation per assignment ranges from $1,120 to $7,245, depending on education and experience. Pay may be adjusted based on factors such as course type, experience, geographic location, licensure and certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
