Position Objective The 5th/6th Grade Combination Teacher is responsible for delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction to a mixed-grade classroom of upper elementary students in a structured, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
This role requires the ability to differentiate instruction across two grade levels, collaborate closely with a classroom paraprofessional, and implement effective classroom management and instructional strategies that support the diverse academic and developmental needs of students.
Teachers serve as mentors, advocates, and leaders who foster both academic excellence and positive character development.
Key Responsibilities Instructional Excellence & Academic Rigor Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons for both 5th and 6th grade students
Design instructional structures that effectively support multi-grade learning in the same classroom
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic needs, learning styles, and readiness levels
Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction
Integrate technology and varied instructional strategies to enhance learning
Provide timely, actionable feedback that promotes student growth and achievement
Multi-Grade Classroom Management & Student Engagement Establish clear expectations and maintain strong classroom management systems
Foster a safe, respectful, and academically focused learning environment
Build a classroom culture that encourages collaboration, responsibility, and independent learning
Support students’ academic growth while encouraging resilience and personal accountability
Manage instructional rotations, small groups, and independent work structures effectively within a mixed-grade setting
Collaboration with Paraprofessional Work closely with a classroom paraprofessional to support student learning and classroom management
Provide clear direction and instructional guidance to maximize the effectiveness of paraprofessional support
Coordinate small-group instruction, targeted interventions, and classroom support strategies
Maintain open communication and a collaborative working relationship that benefits students
Collaboration & Communication Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress and needs
Partner with colleagues, support staff, and administration to ensure student success
Participate actively in grade-level meetings, campus initiatives, and school events
Engage with families and community partners to strengthen student outcomes
Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate student records and documentation in compliance with school and state requirements
Reflect on instructional practice and pursue continuous professional growth
Contribute positively to campus culture and uphold school policies and expectations

Required:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
Arizona teaching certificate, endorsement, or highly qualified in the content area (or ability to obtain)
IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card Working knowledge of instructional technology and data-driven teaching practices
Preferred:
Relevant teaching experience or serving diverse populations
Demonstrated success in raising student achievement
