Position: Creative Design & Publishing Intern (CSLP FWS)

Community Service Learning Program (CSLP) Student Worker

Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents' needs.

GCU maintains a partnership with Next Gen Creatives. Next Gen Creatives' mission is to draw out the creative gifts and talents of youth within the foster care system. The CSLP student worker's work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of Next Gen Creatives; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).

If eligible, CSLP student workers can work during summer (i.e., May – August).

As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

All FWS and FWS-CSLP positions require applicants to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). to be reviewed for FWS-eligibility and awarded FWS.

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/

Essential Functions:

Design and illustrate books, workbooks, and children's products using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva. Lead on-site "creative literacy" stations during community events where foster youth are engaging and learning provided materials. Collaborate with "A Hope & A Future" to customize educational assets specific for their youth. Other duties as assigned.

  • Possess strong ethics, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
  • Comfort supporting youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU in a bachelor's program or master's program full-time during fall/spring or half-time during summer.
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
