First Things First Manager
Start Date: 7-1-2026
Location: Community Education
Duration: 12 months, 8 hours/day
Position Type: INTERIM
Grade: 31, $24.89/hour
Working Hours: Flexible; 40‑hour workweek may include nights, weekends, and irregular hours to meet grant requirements.
Reports To: Director of Community Education
Essential Functions- Acts as a liaison between school program site and families to facilitate communications regarding the First Things First program.
- Compiles data from a variety of sources for analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures, and monitoring program components.
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel (district and school personnel, community partners, school staff, students, etc.) to implement and maintain services in accordance with administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
- Conducts meetings, workshops, and trainings (parent information programs, parent education classes, etc.) to convey and gather information and support staff and families.
- Coordinates activities (opportunities for parents to enrich their skills, classes, workshops, etc.) to deliver services in compliance with established guidelines.
- Implements appropriate programs (training, education classes, Pre‑K and Kindergarten readiness workshops, etc.) to provide resources to families with children from birth to five in a safe family‑centered environment.
- Maintains confidential and non‑confidential manual and electronic lists and records (training materials, student data, program evaluations, etc.) to provide required information and/or documentation.
- Manages community resource information to support and increase awareness for families with children from birth to five.
- Organizes and distributes materials to principals, teachers, parents, and community members to meet program and grant requirements.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to gather information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of materials (informational materials, program evaluations, etc.) to support requested actions.
- Researches resources and programs for parents and children to provide information and/or trainings.
- Responds to inquiries (staff, parents, students, etc.) to identify issues and recommend or implement action plans that resolve issues efficiently.
- Schedules programming and resources for families to comply with program and grant requirements.
- Conducts outreach and recruitment activities aligned to targeted geographic areas and target populations in accordance with grant requirements.
- Meets grant requirements for professional development relevant to strategy implementation and other specific training identified in the Standards of Practice document.
- Manages assigned program and/or departmental responsibilities (budget allocation, procurement of materials, payment of site managers and temporary staff, etc.) to uphold grant integrity per district and state regulations.
- Monitors program/services to ensure outcomes are achieved, policies and procedures are met, and services are delivered efficiently within budgetary and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepares program‑mandated reports (monthly, weekly, quarterly, etc.) to ensure ongoing funding by complying with district and grant/program requirements.
- Supervises site coordinators and other assigned staff to ensure standards are achieved and performance is maximized.
- Creates and maintains an account in the Arizona Early Childhood Workforce Registry with required documentation within six months of hire.
- Ensures all grant requirements are followed and maintained at all times.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Skills: SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill-based competencies include operating standard office equipment, utilizing software applications, planning and managing projects, and developing effective working relationships.
